Launch der Electronic Babylonian Library Platform

The workshop marks the launch of the eBL platform. With over 300,000 lines of text, most of them previously unpublished, this launch represents the largest text publication in the history of cuneiform studies to date. However, many of these texts have not yet been identified, and it is hoped that their publication will enable other users to identify them and use them in their work.

In addition, complete electronic editions of important texts such as the Creation Epic and the Epic of Gilgameš will be published on the same day. A complete list of characters and an Akkadian dictionary will also be made available to the public.

The venue for the event is the "Veranstaltungsraum" in the Philologicum of the LMU (Ludwigstrasse 25, 80539 Munich).

Der Workshop markiert den Start der eBL-Plattform. Mit über 300.000 Textzeilen, die meisten davon bisher unveröffentlicht, stellt dieser Launch die bisher größte Textveröffentlichung in der Geschichte der Keilschriftstudien dar. Viele dieser Texte sind jedoch noch nicht identifiziert, und es ist zu hoffen, dass ihre Veröffentlichung andere Nutzer in die Lage versetzen wird, sie zu identifizieren und für ihre Arbeit zu nutzen.

Darüber hinaus werden zugleich vollständige elektronische Gesamtausgaben bedeutender Texte wie des Schöpfungsepos und des Gilgameš-Epos an diesem Tag veröffentlicht. Auch eine vollständige Zeichenliste und ein akkadisches Wörterbuch werden der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht.
