Tagung „Abandoned Settlements: Discontinuity and Identity“

Tagung unter Leitung von Prof. Dr. Karen Radner und Dr. Robert Schiestl (LMU)

13.02.2019 – 15.02.2019

Human settlements are changeable and are being changed. The processes that come into play here are manifold: abandonment, interruption, relocation, shrinking, growth, change of status, re-naming and re-settlement. The focus of the workshop is on the fragmentation of settlement continuity in antiquity by natural events, social processes and political intervention; other areas of investigation are the construction of identity of settlements, in particular also the selective use of a settlement's diversity.

Teilnehmer sind u.a.: Mark Altaweel (University College London/ CAS Fellow), Katherine Blouin (University of Toronto/CAS Fellow), Jennifer R. Pournelle (University of South Carolina/CAS Fellow).

Abendvortrag am 13. Februar um 18.30 Uhr:
